Your Voice

Your voice caresses soothes
puts to rest all of the fears
that catch me up in the day to day
chaos and turmoil of this world

and to know you are a part
of my life makes me
realize how sometimes the fates
and God smile upon us
where the boundaries of pain
wander down
and the sun can be a harbinger of the spring
with the showers that renew life.

So for now I will not seek shelter
but shall raise an uplifted face
to the drops that circle the lips
that ever seek the taste of the joy
which you bring to my life

and if as time passes
your voice lessens
into the echoes of memory
when other things come to the fore,
in my heart there will be a special room
to which only your voice
will ever hold the key.
