I Walk Beneath The Sun
i walk beneath the sun
where i feel my steps tread through the ages
where i feel the voices of my ancestors pour forth like water from a rock
where i feel the life bleed into the soil
where i feel the wilderness enclose until i cannot breathe
where i feel the lost children wonder if there is ever a way home
how can we tell if this time we will journey beyond the pain
how will we know this time if the arid sun will give way to the rain
how can we ever give word to the anguish that knots our souls
how will we ever again be free of the burning bush and its control
i walk beneath the sun
where i feel my steps tread through the ages
where i feel the voices of our ancestors pour forth like water from a rock
where i feel the life bleed into the soil
where i feel the wilderness enclose until i cannot breathe
where i feel the lost children wonder when they will return to canaan
when will we ever be free of this captivity
when will you ever again trust the world that you see
when will i ever give word to the anguish that knots my soul
when will we ever again be free of the burning bush and its control
i walk beneath the sun
where i feel my steps tread through the ages…
