Ride
smoke and thunder
of a thousand drums
filled your eyes
as you slid
underneath me
we galloped
on long loose strides
toward the sun,
liquid golden
suspended
in the instant
you surrounded me
with your universe
below
far away
the world melted
beneath your touch
all I could feel
was your words,
all I could grasp
was the sound
of your sides
heave against me
in the lust of the long
ordained moment
my life
has far too often
been reduced
to small compartments,
neat tidy
boxes where i stack
my days
one by one
in quiet desperation
but when you left
that night you were kind
enough to leave
the window
open
through the curtains
i viewed a world
where a fresh breeze
warmed my soul
as i watched you thunder
in my memory
on those long loose strides
