The Wailing Wall
I stand before the gray impasse
where I have piled one by
one and cemented with my tears
the patience stones where I have
whispered my deepest darkest secrets
over the years and between
me and the world this wall
of despair keeps out
the light, keeps out the stars,
keeps out the wind,
keeps out the warmth,
keeps out the love.
I pull the veil close
to my face and listen to the world
on the other side
where I know you stand
out of touch,
out of reach, behind
a gray impasse that is cemented
by your own tears
that tumble and cascade
down the pain
of your wailing wall.
